The lecture investigates the central role that culture has played in 20th century politics, particularly within the concept commonly known as the War on Terror. It explores the interrelation of culture, civilization and so-called barbarism, and asserts that in certain crucial respects ‘culture’ is being treated as a new form of barbarism
